Pricing data last verified: June 2026

Toronto’s private dental market has similar pricing to other major Canadian cities — substantially below US pricing but high relative to Mexico, Eastern Europe, or Southeast Asia. For the majority of Torontonians without comprehensive dental benefits — or those whose benefits cap out well below implant costs — dental treatment is a significant financial decision.

Benefits coverage reality

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), introduced in 2024, covers eligible Canadians based on adjusted family net income below CAD $90,000. It covers some major restorative work with co-payments, but implants are not straightforwardly covered — the plan prioritises tooth extractions, dentures, and bridges as tooth replacement options. For most employed Ontarians with group benefits, annual dental maximums of CAD $1,500 to $3,000 leave a significant gap on an implant procedure.

For a single implant, Mexico produces the best net value from Toronto due to shorter, cheaper flights. For multiple implants or All-on-4, the saving is significant from any destination.

University of Toronto dental option

The University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry operates patient care clinics at 124 Edward Street. Implant treatment is provided by supervised postgraduate students and residents at approximately CAD $2,000 to $3,500 per implant including crown. Waiting times apply; call to inquire about current availability.

For a Toronto patient with a single implant need who cannot access dental tourism logistics, U of T Faculty of Dentistry is often the best domestic alternative.
