Our Research Methodology

This page explains how we collect, verify, and present pricing data and destination analysis for dental tourism and hair transplant tourism. We publish this because transparency about methodology is what separates credible reference data from marketing copy.

Pricing Data: How We Collect It

Primary Source Collection

All pricing data on this site comes from direct research, not from aggregating competitor websites or booking platforms. Our collection methods, in order of preference:

  1. Direct clinic inquiry: we contact clinics directly and request written fee schedules or itemised quotes for specific procedures. For procedures with high variability (All-on-4, hair transplants with varying graft counts), we request quotes for standardised scenarios so comparisons are like-for-like.

  2. Published fee schedules: some clinics publish their prices publicly. Where available, we use these as a primary reference and note the URL and access date.

  3. Professional association data: for market-level statistics (average per-graft costs, procedure volumes, market size), we draw on data published by ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery), JCI, ISAPS, and national dental associations. We cite the specific report and year.

We do not use pricing from third-party booking platforms as a primary source. Platform listings are often incentivised and do not reflect actual out-of-pocket cost.

Standardised Scenarios

To make comparisons meaningful across countries, we price procedures against fixed parameters:

ProcedureStandard scenario
Dental implant (single)Titanium implant + abutment + porcelain crown, one tooth
Porcelain veneersE.max ceramic, per tooth, full preparation
All-on-4Per arch, acrylic provisional + final prosthesis
Hair transplant (FUE)2,500 grafts, standard shaved FUE
Hair transplant (DHI)2,500 grafts, DHI pen technique

Where a country’s clinics quote differently (e.g., per-graft vs. package pricing), we convert to a common unit for the comparison table and note the conversion method.

Currency

All prices are converted to USD unless otherwise stated. We use the mid-market exchange rate at the time of data collection, taken from the European Central Bank or XE.com. The exchange rate and date are included in the methodology note for each price table.

Verification and Freshness

Last-Verified Dates

Every price table includes a data-freshness badge showing the month and year we last verified the data. This is not a publication date or an “updated” date. It is the date we actively confirmed prices were still accurate.

Prices change. Currency moves. Clinics update their menus. A price verified in January 2025 may not reflect current market conditions. We believe showing you the verification date is more honest than hiding it.

Update Cadence

We review and re-verify pricing data on the following schedule:

  • Tier 1 pages (dental implant costs, hair transplant costs, Turkey dental, Turkey hair transplant, Mexico dental): reviewed every 6 months
  • Tier 2 pages (all other destination and procedure guides): reviewed annually, every January
  • Ad hoc corrections: when a reader or clinic reports a significant discrepancy, we investigate and update within 5 business days

What We Cannot Guarantee

Clinic pricing is ultimately set by the clinic, not by us. Even fresh data can be outdated within weeks if a clinic changes its fees or if exchange rates move significantly. Treat our price tables as directional reference data (the right order of magnitude for planning purposes), not as quotes.

Always obtain a written, itemised quote directly from any clinic before booking travel.

Clinic Evaluation

When we describe a clinic’s accreditation, technology, or credentials, we verify against:

  • JCI accreditation: checked against the JCI accredited organizations directory (jointcommissioninternational.org)
  • TEMOS certification: checked against the TEMOS certified members list
  • ISHRS membership: checked against ishrs.org member directory
  • ABHRS certification: checked against abhrs.org
  • National licensing: for Turkey (Ministry of Health), Mexico (COFEPRIS/SSA), Hungary (ÁNTSZ), Vietnam (MOH), Thailand (Medical Council of Thailand)

We do not independently audit clinical outcomes. We do not make claims about surgeon skill or results that we cannot source to verifiable external data.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not accept payment from clinics for inclusion, ranking position, or favourable coverage
  • We do not use affiliate links: none of our internal or external links earn commissions
  • We do not rate or rank clinics on a scored basis. We report accreditation status and pricing, not “best clinic” lists.
  • We do not publish unverified testimonials: patient quotes are used only where attributed to a verifiable public source
  • We do not accept sponsored content: all articles are written and controlled by our editorial team

Market Statistics

For market-size figures (industry revenues, procedure volumes, CAGR projections), we rely on published reports from:

  • ISHRS annual reports and biennial practice census
  • ISAPS global statistics
  • Statista, Grand View Research, Allied Market Research (cited with report year and caveat on methodology differences between forecasting firms)
  • Government health ministry statistics (Turkey MOH, India NABH, etc.)

Market size figures from different sources often vary significantly. Where estimates differ, we present the range and name all sources. We do not pick the most flattering figure.

Editorial Process

All articles on this site are written by members of our editorial team and reviewed for:

  1. Factual accuracy: claims checked against cited sources
  2. Price data consistency: price figures cross-checked against our primary research database
  3. Structural completeness: does the article answer the questions a patient actually has before making a decision?
  4. No commercial bias: no paid inclusions, no affiliate links, no brand placements

We do not use AI-generated content without human review and verification of all data points.
